How Much Money Can You Expect from Your Blog?
So you have a blog about something you are passionate about. You have about 100 subscribers. Not too shabby. You’ve got an adsense bar on the right. How much can you make from your blog?
Ok, if you RSS feed ur entire post, NOTHING! Subscribers don’t have to come to your site, they can just read your posts off their feeder. Make them come to your site! How? Only RSS feed the first paragraph, or feed an excerpt from your post. If they don’t come, they don’t click, you don’t get paid simple.
But let’s just say those 100 subscribers DO visit your blog. Roughly about 10 of them(I’m being generous here) click on the ads. Assuming that your blog is about something adsense bidders are paying high for, you may get 25 to 50 cents a click? So that works out to about 2.50 to 5 dollars a day. Not bad~ free lunch money! But is that enough for you? not for me.
So what do you do? Place more ads? You can do that, maybe raise it a bit to 7 or 8 dollars but still not enough..
Options:
- Do you have a lot of time on your hands? If so, make more blogs! Go make 10 more! assuming the statistics are the same, you’ll make 10 times the amount. 70 to 80 dollars a day? I’d take that without questions!
- If you blog about products, join their affiliate programs and place links to the products in your blog. You will get commission out of them. It may not be much in the beginning but it helps!
- Increase your traffic, TECHONATI, STUMBLEUPON, DIGG, FEEDBURNER. There are other places you can join to increase traffic. I will touch on those in another post.
The fact is, you can’t have a sustainable full time income with just a plain blog. Make it exceptional. Provide relative information on your topic. Make readers go “wow, didn’t know that”, “that’s interesting..” Make them come back for more
